Your plain-English reading
BaZi is a traditional cultural system for reflection and study, not a scientific diagnosis or fixed prediction.
BaZi, also called the Four Pillars of Destiny, maps a birth date and time into four pillars for the year, month, day and hour. Each pillar contains a Heavenly Stem and Earthly Branch. The Day Master is the stem of the Day Pillar and acts as a symbolic centre for reading the chart.
Aveni presents BaZi as a traditional cultural system for reflection and study. Results should not be treated as a scientific diagnosis or a fixed forecast.
Birthplace helps estimate time zone and true solar time. This can matter when the birth time is near a traditional boundary.
The Day Master is the Heavenly Stem of the Day Pillar. In traditional BaZi language it is a symbolic centre of gravity for the chart.
